From the tw*tter feed of Martin Stevens, who started the whole ‘spot the’ business with his work on nightjars, here’s a cracker. I have no idea where the pesky crustacean is…

Looks to be about halfway down, close to the right edge, just above that big overturned clam shell on the bottom right. He’s black with white splotches on his carapace.
I’m absolutely terrible at these, but somehow I spotted this one (I think!) within 30 seconds.
Me too, but I spotted this one before I had even scrolled down to see the full picture, in ~1 second! Maybe the fact that I have deuteranopia (red-green colour blindness) makes spotting something black and white easier for me compared to spotting coloured birds or insects.
Beautiful markings.
Great one! (Spoiler alert…Is it the black and white crab-shaped thing on the right?)
Pretty easy (look for the legs).
Too easy! Hint….bumble bee
There it is.
Wow, found in less than 15 seconds. I guess it’s because here in the PNW I’m often looking for Hemigrapsus in similar colored rock. Those are tough, and usually found by gently digging into the substrate to get them to move.
Oh, now I see it. I have not seen that pattern on the carapace of C. maenas before. Is that common in Britain?
Think of first generation TV’s or films.
Ha, got the crab right away, but took me a while to get your hint. 😀
The Markings gave it away.
For me it was the legs.
