Reader Roger Sorensen sent a “spot the moose” photo with this note:
These were taken along the Minnesota north shore at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center (near Finland, MN), May 2016.
A friend and I were at Raven Lake looking at pitcher plants and heard a crashing up the slope. There was the moose [Alces alces] – and seconds later it was out of sight.
It’s easy to spot once you look at the 2nd picture, taken after it ran off.
Can you spot it? I call this one medium hard. Click to enlarge, and I’ll post the reveal at about 2 pm Chicago time.
And remember that this popular feature was started long ago by Matthew Cobb, who put up a “spot the nightjar” post.

I love the photo, but damned if I can see a moose in it.
Nor me. Photos, they tell fibs!
Too easy!
Sure you didn’t say mouse?
I couldn’t find the moose, but I saw plenty of faces of Jesus in the bark of the trees! I hope I get points for that!
So far I’ve spotted three mooses – pareidolia strikes again.
I beat you. I spotted four moose, a zebra and the head of the sphynx.
Damn, I can’t do these! Zoomed in, poured over every millimetre for ten minutes, still can’t find the bloody thing! Moose schmoose.
Hopefully someone will (Sorry PCC(E), couldn’t resist),
Chris G.
I think I see it, maybe. Looking forward to the reveal, to see if I am right. But don’t really expect to be right.
I’d classify this one as hard. I’m usually pretty good at these and I can’t see anything that is clearly a moose. Curious to see if my guess is correct.
I give up. I don’t see no stinking moose.
No moose but I did spot the nightjar.
… now I see a leopard or something sitting on the rock to the right of the big one.
I think its on the other side of the hill.
I think, maybe I see it …
Next to squirrel?
Hell, they ain’t no moose in thar.
