I was pleased to see that the physicist Brian Cox, like all good atheists, has a cat:

I was going to say, look what popped up!
What a pretty cat!
Yes she is gorgeous. I have family with a cat like that and some neighbours. The genetics is interesting which is why I say it is a she.
In cats the black colour gene and the ginger colour gene occupy the same locus on the X chromosome so to have both colours the cat must have two x chromosomes one of which is deactivated in different parts of the body giving those patches of colour. The males would have to be aberrant and rare XXY individuals and are sterile or be chimeras formed from two embryos that merged in the womb.
In the UK we call these Tortoiseshell and White cats but in N. America they are called Calico cats.
We had a male calico. The vet told us he was an xxy. He was very feminine looking. We called him Squawk Boy because everyone thought he was a she.
Yes, isn’t she beautiful?
I am allergic.Does this make me bad? 🙂
Yes.
I’m going to disagree with our host and say “not bad, just unfortunate”.
Derek thank you for your support!
Ha ha! Did you expect Jerry to answer any other way other than “yes”?
Bad atheist here: a charming canid lives at my house.
Don’t worry. Jerry may have used a fallacy, that of the No Good Atheist.
Or so I think. [Disclaimer: I am not into superstitions, an atheist according to how philosophers classify, but have no animals at all at the moment.]
I knew I’d seen that cat before 🙂

If you butter the backside, which side would land on the floor of a dropped cat toast?
It is the Cox’s Cat experiment.
I hope Brian likes cat fur in his toast because that’s probably what he’ll be getting for months now.
Also, hope kitty doesn’t think it’s a good idea to sit there once the toaster starts working. Stoves that heat your house can be dangerous for cats because they get used to sitting on them when they are cool in the summer and then get scalded when they are turned on in the winter. Cat lovers I know usually discourage kitty from getting in the habit so there are no injuries.
