Wonderful students give kittens to teacher whose cat died

May 10, 2016 • 3:15 pm

Meet teacher Tonya Andrews in Joshua Texas, who was sad because her beloved 16-year-old cat had just died.  She said she’d replace it, but almost immediately several of her students did it for her, giving her two kittens. The video showing it, as tw**ted by one of her students, is priceless (click the blue arrow).

This restores my faith in humanity—at least for a few hours.

Kittens make everyone happy.

  1. While it was a nice gesture, is one kitten considered as good as another? People choosing puppies seem a lot more particular. I wouldn’t dream of choosing a puppy for someone else.

  2. The girl who posted the video has “Proverbs 21:31” in her t*****r description. A fairly odd verse if you look at it.

But glad to see that us dirty heathens and them weird-ass religionists see the world the same way in these situations. A risky move, as said, but teh kitteh gawd was smiling!

  3. This is a dangerous thing to do for the kittens. Fortunately the staff of the cat who passed on was receptive to the idea – but if one has a 16 year relationship with an animal a time for grieving is essential. It takes a year, maybe (a lot) longer, to be ready to start a new relationship.

    1. According to the twitter feed of one of the students, they knew the teacher was intending to go get two kittens on the weekend.

    2. My cat passed away 5 years ago after we’d been together for almost 18 years. I still can’t bring myself to consider forming a relationship with another cat, but if someone presented me with the opportunity, I’d probably accept.

      1. This is how Hili found her home. Her predecessor, Pia, had died, and Andrzej and Malgorzata weren’t contemplating replacing her, at least for a while. And then a friend showed up at the door with a tabby kitten: Baby Hili!!!!

The rest is history. . .

    3. Not necessarily. The first family cat who I was helping to staff had a seizure & had to be put to sleep aged somewhere well north of 15. My father didn’t know what to do with himself, and we had taken employment with a rescue cat 24 hours later.

  4. As for Proverbs 21:31, what does this even mean in a religionists wildest dreams?

“The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.”

  5. “Kittens make everyone happy.”

    – speak for yourself, Jerry. Can’t stand cats, of any age.

      1. Are you saying that the only reason for “can’t stand cats, of any age” is because of an allergy ?!
It’s the ‘except for’ part that seems to mean this, rather than merely adding that as a reason for ‘can’t stand cats’.
In any case, let me make this clear. I DO NOT have an allergic reaction to cats, I just hate the damn things…OF ANY AGE !
