I suspect there will be a lot of biology posts today, so we’ll have a shorter version of RWPs, but not a lesser one, for these are bird photos by the estimable Colin Franks (photography site here, Facebook page here, Instagram page here).

    1. ps How on W E I T / on WordPress does one italicize something ?

      1. html tags, specifically beginning with (less than sign)i(greater than sign) and ending with (less than sign)/i(greater than sign). Like this: Glaucidium gnome.

By (less than sign) I mean <.

  1. Great photographs by Mr. Franks, as per ususal. I particularly appreciate the photos of the owls. Owls are a particular favorite of mine. When I was a kid, about 10 or 12 years old, we lived basically right next to the Everglades. I used to listen to them making their “hoots” back amd forth to each other after dark.

  2. I took a picture of a baby owl in Albuquerque this weekend. It is shameful compared to these.

  3. Is the Northern Pygmy Owl saying, “If I take it back, will the shop swap it for a smaller size?”
