Alas, it is Monday again, and it is back to work for me.
Jerry is off to Bangalore today and he isn’t sure if he will have the internet. Posting will be somewhat dependent on whether he can get a connection. I will try to keep you updated.
In the meantime, here’s today’s Deep Thought from the Princess of Poland.
Hili: I have to concentrate.
A: Concentrate on what?
Hili: On what I’m thinking.
A: And what are you thinking about?
Hili: That’s what I’m trying to puzzle out.
Hili: Muszę się skupić.
Ja: Nad czym?
Hili: Nad tym o czym myślę.
Ja: A o czym myślisz?
Hili: Właśnie nad tym się zastanawiam.
And from the other Polish felid friend, who is also thinking Deep Thoughts of a more existential nature.
Leon: I will gladly have a fresh grass as a snack. But didn’t you take some tuna?
As finally a tonic for the week ahead, we have a Squirrel Of The Day from Anne-Marie in Canada. Isn’t it sweet?
Want some holy water?

Squirrel seems to be saying:
“Tell me I look innocent now.”
Cats are somehow predictable. They are always there when you need them.
Squirrels are really adorable creatures, and as this story shows, they can even be kept as pets — if you’re lucky enough, that is 😉

FYI, I wanted to bring your attention to this article, I haven’t seen it in the American/Canadian news:
http://townhall.com/tipsheet/justinholcomb/2016/03/21/60-minutes-releases-footage-of-crew-being-attacked-by-migrants-n2137179
Australian 60 Minutes crew attacked by Muslim immigrants in Sweden.
When Jerry is away, should we continue to email him with these? I would have with this, but I crashed my email program when I upgraded to Windows 10. (Because of my own stupidity, staying up too late and getting stupid tired) I’m putting off reinstalling and restoring data until I get more sleep.

Those are the best squirrel pictures we’ve had yet! It was very obliging of it to pose for the second photo.
Thanks!
That squirrel is getting used to take the pose! A real star!
I have a tonic – query for Anyone to help answer, if you please:
What can a human do if s(h)e loves.loves.loves. kitty cats but
in, adulthood / 60s, is respiratorily allergic to them? to the point of
i) skin – itching and
ii) (“minor”) throat – tightening and
iii) lots of sneezing and eyeballs’ watering?
Is there a fairly evidence – proven remedy or tonic or desensitization technique [new format of medical injections or mists for said allergen(s), say] which one may employ to alleviate? to truly alleviate?
to the point that the household (only two people of middle age and no little kiddos at all) may finally be able to be owned by a kitty cat? or two?
Thank you.
Blue
My own anecdotal experience is:
– you can get non-drowsy tiny, one-a-day antihistamines that provide fairly good protection
– always meticulously wash hands and face every time you have petted the cat – this helps tremendously
– over a few months a certain tolerance for one’s own cats sets in, although the sensitivity to outsider cats remains.

(Pls. see comment 7, Blue.) also these kittehs are supposedly ‘hypoallergenic’.)

Answers are not for me.
I am one, as a kiddo, with
15 to 20 barn cats, ‘member, and
as an adult at least one serially for
decades until m’main Maine Coon
tortoiseshell rescue,
Mz Moxie Grace OwlFace,
was killed nearly three years ago.
Advices — thank you — are sought for
(soooo – deprived – per – his – own – assessment –) friend.
I shall pass these along to him.

He could look into the desensitizing process too, Blue. It worked quite well for my own ragweed allergy; I’m still a bit sensitive to it but not to the previous dysfunctional level. From what I’ve read, it doesn’t work for everyone.

I took what turned out to be a 7-year course of allergy shots to immunize me to the cats in my household. (Why it took so long isn’t about medicine so much as my personal schedule, which had me lapsing and starting over a few times.) Allergy shots are a nuisance, though you soon learn how to manage the shot room schedule to consume as little of your time as possible. Shot sites tend to itch, though ice and anti-itch creams help. Would I do it again? Well, at the start of the shots, I was consuming a large box of tissues EVERY DAY. Now I take a daily non-drowsy antihistamine and use more tissues cleaning my glasses than blowing my nose. Best of all, I have two wonderful cats who contribute greatly to my quality of life. Heck yes, I’d do it again!
Good to hear I’m not the only one dealing with the cat allergy. I just take pills and have been doing it for so long it just seems like part of the day. Always had less problems in tropical or more humid climates.
It’s probably a stupid thing to put up with so call me stupid.
Looks like you’re far from the only one, stupid.
😉
Best advice – try a hairless cat…. see how you react around that breed first. It’s not just the cat dander but the cat saliva that some people are allergic to. Of course you could go the antihistamine route like Grania suggested. Check the doctor first about the efficacy of shots…. could be worth it.
Hili my dear, thank you for explaining the kinds of things my own kitties might be pondering when they take up that position!
