Another sleepless night for no apparent reason. I do believe this insomnia will kill me if it persists! At least the weather is gonna warm up: a high of 48°F (9°C) is predicted today. On March 6, 1836, the battle of the Alamo ended in Texas with the deaths of, among others, Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett. In 1902, the football club Real Madrid was founded, and, in 1981, Walter Cronkite signed off for the last time as a television news anchor. March 6 births include Michelangelo (1475), Lefty Grove (1900), Gabriel García Márquez (1927), Kiri Te Kanawa (1944), and Carolyn Porco (1953). Those who died on this day include Louisa May Alcott (1832), John Philip Sousa (1932), Pearl Buck (1973), Ayn Rand (1982), Georgia O’Keefe (1986), and Hans Bethe (2005). Does anybody really care, though, what happened on this day, or any day?
Meanwhile in Dobrzyn, Hili is dissing the staff—and unfairly, because I know that Andrzej and Malgorzata get ready for walkies quite quickly.

In Polish:
Cyrus: Mam wrażenie, że zbliża się pora spaceru.
Hili: Spokojnie, wiesz jak oni powoli się zbierają.(Zdjęcie: Sarah Lawson)
And look what Gus has done to his box—it’s starting to lean precariously. He’ll soon be needing a new one, and that means a new lamp from Ikea for his staff:

Nice. Love the furries.
Wow, talk about the cat and the mouse.
The good, bad and ugly and cat – does that cat have a smirk?
Gus gets all the fiber.
We’re similar in age and the only reason I mention that is because as I’ve gotten older drinking alcohol has started to have an adverse affect on my quantity and quality of sleep. I only drink every other weekend now and there’s a direct relationship. The nights I drink I may sleep so \ so but the nights after I drink I can hardly sleep at all. So if I’ve had anything to drink a day or two ago, I take an over the counter sleep aid called Zquil that helps me for a couple days till my system is straight again. After a few days when my body is used to there being no alcohol in my system I sleep more soundly than ever and have some really wild, vivid dreams also which are quite fun sometimes. Good luck with your sleep problems, if you have a similar alcohol intake and try getting it out of your system, I really hope it works for you.
Gus now looks satisfied with his design. He’s been aiming for something after the style of a Japanese teahouse or a gazebo. 🙂
Love the GIF with the quirky cat expressions, and the mouse-cat symbiosis is adorable.
The eye movements of cat in the video remind me much more of the tortured ocular contortions of Donald Trump’s new zombie bitch, Chris Christie, in that now infamous video at Trump’s recent press conference.
Professor, here’s a quick fix for your sleepless night: first, eat delicious food you like, probably the food is fatty, then, lie down and read — a book or screen,,, then you fall, the empire is falling, falling to sleep… and the world is quiet & peaceful… 🙂
A book would be better; a screen will likely emit ‘blue light’ which can disrupt one’s sleep cycle by contributing to wakefulness.
Add Chopin’s Nocturnes, and you’re there.
Re: “Does anybody really care, though, what happened on this day, or any day?”
Just as I appreciate the wit and wisdom of Hili and Cyrus I appreciate the little history lesson as to who was born/died on the day.
As for the insomnia problem – had it on and off for years. Go see someone. If I have a fruit-fly problem, I’d give you a call. Remember, Hili says, “Spokojnie.”
I enjoy the daily rundown too. Nice to remember people I’ve not thought about in years; occasionally I go on to Google them.
