Wednesday: Hili dialogue

December 23, 2015 • 5:30 am

It’s Hump Day, and the next one—the last of 2015—will be on my birthday. I needn’t remind you that there are only two shopping days left before Xmas and the First Day of Coynezaa. Also, the weather in Chicago is GRAY and overcast, and we are predicted to have rain beginning on Christmas Eve and continuing until Tuesday. It look like this outdoors (h/t reader Tom):

thunderhead kitty

On this day in 1954, the first successful kidney transplant was performed, and, in 1805, Mormon leader Joseph Smith was born, dying prematurely (you know how) in 1844. Nobody interesting seems to have died on December 23; perhaps they were hanging on until Christmas. Meanwhile, Hili is very cute as Andrzej instructs her in philosophy:

Hili: Is hedonism a philosophy?
A: When you are sitting it is a philosophy; when you are lying down it’s a description of reality.

In Polish:
Hili: Czy hedonizm to filozofia?
Ja: Jak siedzisz to filozofia, a jak leżysz to tylko opis rzeczywistości.

  1. My beloved , and now deceased kitty, Booty, looked just like Hili and she even used to sleep like that.

    Loved her noms too.

  2. We have quite a few musicians that kicked it Dec 23rd… Oscar Peterson. Victor Borge. Even Billy Barty (most would think he was just an actor, but he had humble beginnings with Spike Jones’ band, belting out a song or two). Another notable: Joe Friday. (Jack Webb).

  3. Hili’s pose looks very uncomfortable, demonstrating that she’s as happy as a cat can get. I still don’t understand how that works….

  4. i just want to thank you for all your wonderful feline posts! Since my two kitties have passed on I get great comfort from seeing Hili every day as well as all the rest.

  5. I hadn’t seen the GIF before (regardless of pronunciation of this jraphics file format), but my first thought was “ignimbrite-kitteh!”
This is an ignimbrite. A small one. The man in the white suit’s reaction is appropriate – what we’d call an attack of the OUTBEs (Overwhelming Urge To Be Elsewhere).
