Inna Shevchenko, head of the feminist and anti-theocratic organization FEMEN, was profiled in Paris Match in the article below. She adds on her Facebook page, “In french Paris Match magazine (hidden propaganda of Jerry Coyne book :)”
Translation of the headline by Francophone Matthew Cobb: “Yes, I am the leader – I don’t believe in anarchy!”

Now there are some feminists who don’t seem to need safe spaces!
“Translation of the headline by Francophone Matthew Cobb: “Yes, I am the leader – I don’t believe in anarchy!””
Careless reading of that suggests that Matthew Cobb is the leader of FEMEN.
Faith vs Fact, France & FEMEN … fantastic!
+1, as they say.
It’s quite sad the breasts are blurred. It’s an important part of FEMEN’s identity and political activism.
It’s too bad that we’re such delicate little snowflakes that we have to give the FEMEN’s photoshopped mastectomies lest our poor widdle eyes are offended.
Purityrannicalism, as Hefner coined, is alive and well.
Yes, the land of the free and the home of the brave cannot be burdened with the sight of female areolas and nipples (strangely, those of the male are ok.
Let’s see how long we can go on this comment thread without someone coming on to whine about the Femen ladies and their tactics.
Nobody has, so far (ain’t that refreshing?)
And Paris Match didn’t do the airbrushing, at least in their online version (see the link in Andrew’s post at #10)

I never thought I’d see the day that bare breasts are a step too far for a French magazine…
I doubt the pixelation was done by Paris Match, probably from a reprint.
What makes you think the prudery originated with the French magazine?
Because the picture in this topic is a photo from the French magazine. I wonder who else could have blurred the photo. If the photographer blurred the photo, then the editors of Paris Match should have picked a non-blurred photo.
It seems to me that this is a photo from the magazine on Facebook.
I think the USA is long overdue for its own branch of Femen.
The death of religion will come from the X-chromosome. Stand up and fight against this tyranny of subjugation.
Are Nipple exposures covered by the 1st Amendment? discuss
Ooh goody, some more material for me to practice my French reading on. (But why did they have to airbrush the FEMENists? I’m sooo disappointed 🙂

Thanks! The whole article (and it’s quite long). And, to answer the question that’s been preoccupying everybody**, no they haven’t airbrushed the FEMEN-ists.
There’s also a separate portrait (not just an inset) of Inna, with FvF prominently displayed.

(** ‘everybody’ – to a first approximation)
