Spot the bunny

No, this cottontail’s name is not “Spot.” A juvenile rabbit was sitting on the trail at the Garden of the Gods (a fantastic series of rock formations in Colorado Springs), and then hopped into the bushes after I photographed it (below). Can you spot it?

This is an easy one!

And here is before hightailing it off. Cute, eh?

    1. As in Lucky Rabbit’s Foot? Definitely unlucky for the rabbit. Who makes up these things?

  1. Garden of the Gods is wonderful! Hope you’ll get to stop in Manitou Springs nearby. Lovely, artsy town, with a great Mexican restaurant near the turnoff to the cablecar. It’s been about 20 years…we tried to drive all the way up to Pike’s Peak but the road was closed by snow in July!

And yes, I could actually spot the bunny, for once;-)

  2. It is a leaf bunny! Do they perchance have close relationship with dust bunnies?

I saw some of life’s drama earlier today. I heard a bird squalling and looked out just in time to see a cat take a tentative sweep at a medium sized bird on the pavement across the street. After being thoroughly told not to, the cat slunk away. I think the bird took off while I switched rooms to get closer to the front door in case I could do something.

My tentative reconstruction is that the bird was juvenile as well as the cat. It hadn’t grokked the corner windows that figure prominently in the adjacent house, the direction the animals seemed to come from. (In my neighbor’s defense, the bottom corner houses a recently vacated shop.)

The bird saved its neck twice under that scenario, maybe the cat lives rubbed off.

  3. CO Springs — you should visit some of the mega churches and AF Academy chapel!

  5. Look how his cute ears are so big but his nose so small! Squeeeee!

  6. That is about the only garden I’d let it into. Certainly not the one in our backyard!
