Wednesday: Hili dialogue

January 21, 2015 • 4:30 am

For those who thought that Cyrus had disappeared after telling Hili to “piss off,” well, he’s back again, and dumb as a box of rocks. But he can’t help it, for he’s a d*g. Here the pair have their walkies:

Cyrus: Are we going to the left or to the right?
Hili: Cyrus, you are an adult, you don’t have to ask about everything.

In Polish:
Cyrus: W lewo, czy w prawo?
Hili: Cyrus, jesteś już dorosły, nie musisz o wszystko pytać.

      1. Yeah, but Cyrus has lazer eyez, and a free pass into Heaven to boot! Even the Pope can’t swing those kind of powers for himself.

  1. Allya’all know how a wee bit ago, we were all gently adjured to countenance phrases about which we cannot stand to hear or to read or that seriously rub us in a grating and wrong way ?

Well, about “ … … and dumb as a box of rocks ?” I simply adore this phrase. It is so, so illustrative of about elebenty gazillion deals within speech and within writings.

One such one ? Only – female – to – the – US Congress – ever, Senator Joni Ernst’s bread – bags – over – my – one – pair – of – shoes’ whiny paean in her last night’s “statement” which, for us Iowans is beyond embarrassing. That song is actually, well, … … humiliating.

If “ … … and dumb as a box of rocks” can make me, upon checking matters online @ 5:30am, top – volume, out – loud guffaw — as it, as a descriptor re poor, poor Hound Cyrus, did for me this morning after Ernst’s bloviations and blathers of last evening — then I know my midweek day ( at least that much inside Iowa here ) is gonna go way better than I was expecting it to go ! Thank you, Professor Ceiling Cat !

    1. A variant of “dumb as a box of rocks” I’ve heard:

“Dumber than a bag of hammers.”

      1. I like “dumb as a box of rocks”, especially when used to describe someone who fears the eventual takeover of humanity by computer AI.

    2. I’m still dry-heaving from watching Joni Ernst:-((. Could she have been any worse???
Not many could whine as she did through that glued-on smile. And the hogswallop(sp?)which spewed out…

Cyrus is Einstein in comparison ( and a very nice dog besides).

      1. I wager that Cyrus is very smart, smarter than a lot of hoomans. Somehow he got Andrzej and Malgorzata to fall for his charm and to adopt him, and he survived the initial period of rejection, then detente with Princess Hili, and is now practically joined at the hip with her! Oh, and he got many of us to fall in love with him.

      2. I watched the follow-up commentary on Fox. They put awkward fixed smiles on their faces and said variations of, “Obama is a tough act to follow”. Absolutely nothing else. They were clearly desperately trying to come up with something, but just couldn’t. I think it was George Will who eventually said some nice things, but he didn’t get any support.

        1. But Joni didn’t follow his act at all. She seems to have just memorized her little spiel. The Repubs must have SOME women with more brains than Sarah P or Michele B or Joni E…

    3. Dixie’s own loudmouth cartoon rooster, Foghorn Leghorn, described one of the hens in his farmyard as “about as sharp as a sack of wet mice.”

  2. I’m sure Cyrus is as smart as he can possibly be…but he does look a bit like the proverbial deer caught in the headlights, there.

  3. “Hili: Cyrus, you are an adult, you don’t have to ask about everything.”

As a young lady I once knew occasionally replied to me, in response to what I thought a quite reasonable question: “IIIIII’llllll never tell!”
