Thursday: Hili dialogue

January 1, 2015 • 5:54 am

The planet has completed another revolution around the sun, and that means calendars change on earth today. Hili is showing off her literary stripes this morning, although if you are of a gaming persuasion you might think the Bioshock version works well here too.

Either way, hope you are surviving the morning after the night before.

2015
Hili: Little Sister is watching you.
A: You’ve been reading Orwell again.

In Polish:

Rok 2015
Hili: Mała siostra obserwuje cię.
Ja: Znowu czytałaś Orwella.

  1. She sees you when you’re sleeping…she knows when you’re awake…she knows if her food bowl is empty, so fill it, for goodness’s sake!

  2. BTW, who/what set the change of year at a week after the solstice vs. on one or the other of those, or an equinox?

    1. I tried looking this up & the answer is so complex I’m not going there. Something I discovered that was utterly new to me is that the year used to start in March for a lot of people for a large swathe of recorded history 🙂

The nearest Earth/Sun event to Jan 1st in Earth’s astronomical year is the perihelion which this year is January 4th at 06:36 UTC [01:36 EST] which has absolutely nothing to do with answering your question I hasten to add. I wonder which point in the southern hemisphere is nearest to the Sun at that moment in 2015? 🙂
