I’ve started growing a tropical planet whose seed I picked up on a desert island in the Indian Ocean. Very mild, still.

I think it’s something like “Entada rheedii“, but IANA-Botanist. It’s definitely reacting to the scarification and the partial immersion in fresh water. I’m taking a photo every day, which I’ll post somewhere if it actually gets going properly. At the moment, it’s just wrinkly edges to the seed pod, with no evidence of a shoot coming out. But here’s hoping.

Some 40+ years ago I picked up a couple dozen hard-shelled seeds in Costa Rica, stuck them in a baggie, and forgot all about them till I was unpacking at home. Somehow customs completely overlooked them.
A few years ago I thought about trying to germinate some, though research led me to realize they wouldn’t be particularly attractive plants…still, you’ve reawakened the urge…
