The Albatross is here!

August 11, 2014 • 4:44 am

O noes!  Everything on this site is going to slow down until I groom this bird and make it capable of flying. The giant bottle of aspirin (they come in “small,” “medium,” “large,” and “author” is to help me.

Be kind to Professor Ceiling Cat.

    1. Ditto here.

I am an excellent copy editor, starting with my HS yearbook. It’s a skill I’ve maintained and used throughout my professional career.

I’m accurate and fast, too. L

    1. “I started out on burgundy
But soon hit the harder stuff
Everybody said they’d stand behind me
When the game got rough…”. -Bob Dylan

You probably haz a sad because Dembski’s talk is coming up. Feel better soon!

    1. I was wondering the same. If it were me, I’d be tempted to get a soft copy & do a “accept all edits”. 🙂

  1. I love these puzzles 🙂

Lets see, some papers from Cognitive Psychology, an email with a reminder list for a haircut and dentist, and in the upper left, what appears to be a pan-dimensional box with little people in it.

Oh, and a fat envelope with a lot of work in it.

    But I can’t see the nightjar. 🙁

    1. Indeed. I spent part of my childhood continuing and attempting to complete my dad’s old stamp collection, as well as pestering relatives and family friends for old envelopes and postcards from anywhere in the world. My son will have to collect stickers instead.

  2. Ah!

    “I’m aspirin’
    and perspirin’
    to skilz
    with pilz.”

But seriously, given your speed Jerry, this will be over before the fat lady sings.

  3. Caution: too much aspirin over an extended period may suppress thyroid function. Ibuprofen doesn’t, although it does have that unfortunate gastric bleeding side effect in some people.

    1. Aspirin can cause bleeds as well and respiratory issues. What you need is a good dose of codeine, it’s addictive so you know it works!

        1. And working while suffering with something as nasty as viral bronchitis is a real drag. I have asthma, so will usually be hospitalized if I get a bad case of bronchitis; at least it has happened in the past, so I feel for you. Get better soon Jerry! And good luck with the albatross…soon it will be flying!

      1. Aspirin is the best thing for gout. I’ve found that if I just take it until my nose bleeds, the inflammation clears up nicely!

  4. As a fan of the Periodic Videos series on Youtube I now only use Boots brand aspirin. Boots became so rich by making bootleg aspirin during WWI and they had the influence to make voiding the Bayer trademark on “aspirin” part of the Treaty of Versailles.

It all worked out well as Boots gave a crapload of money to Nottingham University to beef up its science departments.

  5. I took the title literally and was sooo disappointed not to see a photo of Prof CC and a whacking great bird. 🙁
