This one is Sadie, a Maine coon cat owned by readers Lori Anne and John. The caption is, “But there is no Ceiling Cat!”
I don’t understand why cats always look peeved when they’re dressed up. I’m told it’s because clothing feels “restrictive” on them, but then we hoomans should spurn clothing as well!
It I was furry, I’d hate clothes too. they probably push the due down and make you itchy and hot.
She seems remarkably tolerant of the cat torture.
Actually, the more I put this little horn cap on her head while holding her, the faster her descent a state of dramatic despair combined with an overall sense of utter futility. (“Resistance is futile,” says Ceiling Cat.) This behavior was completely unlike her usual amped-up Maine Coon, kick-your-butt self. And completely unexpected, which is why I was laughing. And laughing. John and I were admittedly laughing at her expense, which undoubtedly makes us a bad feline companions; but it was just so cute in all its dramatic sadness.
However, in many ways it was just a ruse; as soon as I put her down, she took the cap off in about half a second with one quick, big-pawed swoop.
Sadie wons after all.
“won” not “wons”
“But there is no Ceiling Cat!”
I’m surprised Prof. Ceiling Cat let this shrill, militant and obnoxious blasphemy slip through! 😉
…but then we hoomans should spurn clothing as well!

Some of us do! Think nudist camp
My family had a summer shack in Breezy Point (a peninsula jutting into the Atlantic & where the Manhattan skyline could be seen off in the distance, behind Sheepshead Bay) which is kinda of close to where Richard Feynman grew up. I was allowed to run around barefooted and close to naked all summer. When school recommenced it was just torture to dress up properly for it.
“I don’t understand why cats always look peeved when they’re dressed up. ”
Are cats’ faces really expressive enough to look peeved? I just wonder if it’s just projection on our part.
You don’t have cats, I presume?
LOL!
Actually, Sadie looks more pensive than peeved to me. A real cutie-pie, anyway.
