  1. I love the glowing buildings. It’s so tricky to capture something interesting in the sky because not only is your eye showing something that the camera may see differently (so you have to match that up in your camera settings) but if you fiddle around trying to get things right for too long (i.e.; 5 seconds), the effect you’re trying to capture vanishes (since the sun is setting).

    This happened to me last night when I wanted to capture the setting sun’s effect on a weird looking cloud.

  2. Indeed, I expect it was a very fleeting moment too. Were you expecting it and waiting, or was it just a matter of chance favoring the loaded camera? In any event, nice shot!

  3. They are taken from a region to the south of the downtown area and must be from a high rise building where Jerry has a condo or apartment. The U of C campus is not far from the lake, but somewhat west by several blocks.

    I was visiting near the city (in Evanston) on this same weekend. The weather was lovely (relatively cool). It is my home town and I always appreciate Jerry’s posts of pictures and tales of life in the city.
