  1. Congratulations are in order (not least to the kitten), but as I have purchased both tomes, I’m not sure if I’m coming or going or even if I’m sitting on the fence. 😉

  2. Contratulations! I too have purchased both books, but WEIT was a more recent purchase. Do you know if Neil is planning any kind of counter-attack?

  3. Neil’s counter-attack consists of calling me up, reading me the numbers, and GLOATING!!!! He’s my dean, so what can I do???

    SHUUUBIIINNN!!!

  5. Congratulations Dr Coyne. You’re book is wonderful and it deserves all the success it gets.

Have you heard any feedback from creationists yet about the book?

  6. It’s very curious, actually. The emails I get are nearly all from people who like the book. The creationists (and assorted other kooks) write LETTERS, often with postmarks from California and scrawled handwriting on front. I can spot one in my mailbox several yards away.

  7. Darn – I really wanted to see that cat’s brains splattered all over the window. I have purchased 15 copies of “Your Inner Fish” but only 1 of WEIT. And I have yet to finish WEIT. But I will probably buy about 15 copies of WEIT and give them away like I did with Fish. My contribution to the effort to stamp out ignorance. I gave Fish to my sisters and brothers – all well educated but with misconceptions about evolution. I gave a copy to the high school kid next door – who was not really taught evolution in his biology class. WEIT will help stamp out the remaining ignorance.

  8. It’s hard to compete, Neil’s has a better title. WEIT might have better content (not sure, It’s still in the mail) but “your inner fish” has serious curiosity value.

  9. Back in the 50’s I read the Penguin book “Evolution” by John Maynard Smith. I have not read anything quite so lucid and to the point- until your book came along.

  10. I messed up things for both of you by buying both books on the same day a couple weeks ago. But I’m reading yours first.
