Desperate times always push humans into irrationalist behavior. We are in desperate times. I’m sure that in Egypt, at the time that Christianity supplanted paganism as the dominant religion of the roman empire, the curators of the library at Alexandria had no clue that they were about to all be murdered and the greatest repository of ancient knowledge burned to the ground by the fanatic mobs. But it happened…and here we are again.
