Today we have a short but lovely video from reader Mark in Australia. His notes are these:
The birds in the video are Little Corellas (Cacatua sanguinea), an Australian cockatoo, filmed at Winchelsea, in the state of Victoria. My drone was hovering when the flock came from nearby to inspect the strange object in their airspace.
When my daughter was quite young I asked her if she had noticed the large flock of corellas that had moved into the area. She asked “Are they the birds that sound like ghosts?” I had to say yes. Their call is not harsh like a sulphur-crested cockatoo, but high pitched and sort of spooky.
If you want to hear their spooky calls, go to this video.
Thanks Mark. Don’t know if I would call their sounds ghostly, but the silent drone imagery from close above certainly is a bit unreal and gripping.
Very nice! Such a cool perspective from your drone.
