Today’s joke comes from the prophet Mohammed himself as recorded in Sahih Bukhari 304, which I will transcribe here for your pleasure:
Once Allah’s Messenger went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) of `Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer.
Then he passed by the women and said, “O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women).”
They asked, “Why is it so, O Allah’s Messenger?”
He replied, “You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could
be led astray by some of you.”The women asked, “O Allah’s Messenger! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?”
He said, “Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?”
They replied in the affirmative.
He said, “This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn’t it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?” The women replied in the affirmative.
He said, “This is the deficiency in her religion.“
And once again Mo literally begs the question!
Blame the victim.
Reminds one of the classic study on brains and intelligence by (if I recall correctly) Paul Broca. The essential question was “Why are women less intelligent than men?” Broca learned that women’s brains were smaller…Q.E.D!
Samples were from people who had died.
Of course, women’s bodies were smaller and many were old and some confined to “asylums”; for men, most were casualties of war, so young and healthy and also not a cross-section of the male population.
When the answer is embedded in the question, the findings almost always confirm the expectation.
It’s the same old formula that religions are effectively based on, these days adopted generally by the woke crowd as well:
1. Decide what you want to be true.
2. Gin up some convoluted fantasy purporting to establish your “truth” as the natural order of things established by god (or in the case of wokeness, as the correct way of seeing the world free from any oppressive “social constructs”).
3. Brook no debate and declare all dissenters to be “haters” (or sinners).
It’s all more than a bit ridiculous, but the resulting damage very real.
