In June 2020, a super-smart tortoiseshell named Alexis in Austria performs 26 tricks – including a high five, waving paws, and shaking her head – in one minute! The cat’s owner, Anika Moritz, said she started training the cat just a few weeks after she got her as a kitten. It’s anyone’s guess how the cat and owner pulled this bizarre one off: Bibi, a white and black domestic shorthair cat in Malaysia, carried 10 stacked dice on a steady paw for at least a few seconds in 2017. Bibi’s human, Siew Lianchui, must have done some funky training to make this happen.

Finally, a long-jumping moggy:
Under the training of Melissa Arleth, an American cat named Sputnik jumped 7 feet 6 inches on the set of the show Lo Show Dei Record in Milan, Italy. That happened recently – in February 2024. That’s quite a leap!

Oscar is owner by Theodore Shiells (USA). He is a 7 year old rescue cat and was only given a 50:50 chance of survival when they took him in.
He’s described as a very smart cat who likes learning tricks. Theodore started training him to jump two years ago, and they were eventually able to beat the previous record by over 25 cm!

I don’t object to A.I. when it’s not being presented as real. My biggest peeve for A.I. is when you see DIY timelapse videos and it turns out they are A.I. Hey, if you can’t do it for real, don’t bother.
I agree. I consider most stealth A.I. to be fraud. I liked the cat song; since every cat owner has received such a gift at one time or another. Mine would often bring me half a lizard.

It’s a pity the truffle story is fake, since it made me laugh out loud. I hate having my emotions manipulated like that.
I once saw a visiting Russian circus group that used cats, instead of tigers and lions, to perform elaborate tricks that I never dreamed cats were capable of. The idea that cats could be so cooperative was in itself mind-blowing, since in my experience, people don’t train cats, they train you.
Cats can be big! Cats are smart. Cats can play dice and cards. Cats dig in order to find dirt. (Of course they do!) And, wait for it…, cats do what they want!
How smart are they? Smart enough to manipulate their humans to use AI to exalt them.

Well, the truffle story could well have been true. Our cat Buggerlugs always trailed my husband outside and helped with any digging being done, whether gardening or post holes. He took it very seriously – as long as holes were being dug, Bugsy was there to help. It was all the savage little toad was good for – much as we loved him, he never quite made it to being tame. He would definitely have helped with any truffle digging
See: Bibi has exceptional talent, is very good-looking and, I imagine an honest companion.
Unfortunately, his human namesake has none of these qualities.
