  1. I read a story about someone (in the US, I think) who welcomed the introduction of a religious ceremony in praise of God at a school sports event. When he went to the event, he realized that the praise was for another god, a local chap who was clearly not God. He ended up supporting the idea that religion should not have anything to do with school sports events.

      1. Thank you for this reference. I’ve had a side interest in Native American civilizations from Iroquois, to ancestral pueblo, to Maya, to Inca. With a boyfriend, I also served a mission in Salt Lake City, Utah (while attending the U) during which we converted 2 friends from Mormonism. In fairness, both were science students and already questioning their faith, but we provided support through the, for them, gut wrenching process of converting to atheism.

  2. So good.

  3. Question for Mo (rhetorical – No reply necessary) : Are you torn because you are trying to decide whether this “slight” (of Mo’s existence, religion, followers, prayer schedule, etc.) OR “waffling” between whether it was an extreme insult or compliment?

  4. This reminds me of how, in the wake of Biden’s pro-democracy remarks in Normandy, several Republicans (I think Rick Scott was one) objected to the President’s “hit piece” on Donald Trump…
