Duck teaser June 5, 2019 • 3:45 pm The good mother Katie, cocking her head—my favorite pose for a mallard hen. Tomorrow’s “readers’ wildlife” post will be on ducks, as I can’t resist showing pictures of my grandchildren. Share this:TweetEmail
She is just darling! I think she likes you, Jerry, as she should since you feed her and her progeny, not to mention her mate! Reply
Yes, I take all the duck pictures, though in the past Anna has taken some, and I always mention it if she or someone else takes a photo. Reply
… or, as a dutiful and caring mother, is she looking up to her left for marauding raptors? I wonder – have the ducklings grown to the point where they are no longer prey to such attacks? Great pic, BTW, PCC(e). Couldn’t stop smiling. βPer Reply

I suspect that full-grown tyrannosaurs would have kept an eye on the water if they had reason to believe there was a Spinosaurus about and hungry. Why does every second thing on the Internet this week make me think of Fred Saberhagen? Reply
An intelligent looking duck.
