If you’re in Brussels on April 1, I’m giving a public talk on the evidence for evolution. It will be delivered in English but simultaneous French translation will be offered through headphones, and the slides will be in both English and French. Admission is free.
Here’s the announcement (click on screenshot):
On the next day, April 2, I’ll be giving a science talk on the last decade of my fly work at Louvain, and that announcement is below:

That first talk sounds like it might attract some doubters. Was that deliberate and, if so, was it your idea or the host’s? Will there be picketing outside do you think?
I doubt the opposition will be there. For one thing, the acceptance of naturalistic evolution in Belgium is about four times more frequent than in the U.S. This is more an educational talk.
The campus of Louvain la Neuve was created when the French speaking part of the Catholic University of Louvain moved out of Dutch speaking Leuven (=Louvain). The French speaking medical faculty and academic hospital moved to Brussels.
Note, it still called Catholic (UCL), although I gather that the Church accepts evolution, just not for the human soul.
Try to visit Bruges.
Brendan Gleeson agrees.
The more talks on evolution the better, I always say. But is there a reason you have not commented on the Cambridge University withdrawal of its invitation to Jordan Peterson? In this respect you are the same as the major mass media in this country, who have yet to even take notice of it even though it is all over the web.
Good lord. PCC(E) is not a news outlet, and this is his blog. Whether or not he decides to comment is no business of ours.
Well that’s a pretty nasty comment. Do I have to write about everything in the news that you consider important.
Sorry, but don’t tell me what to write about.
You can guess what my opinion is, but I just found out about it, and it’s already out of the news cycle. At any rate, reread the Roolz and stop telling me I have to comment on this or that. I haven’t commented on the release of the Mueller Report or on any of the Democrats who have declared for President. Ant that stuff IS all over the news.
I’m sorry you found my comment nasty. It was merely an observation. And no, you dont have to write about things you dont consider important or what others do. But given your past coverage of incursions against freedom of speechI found it puzzling that you didn’t address the Cambridge cancellation. I wasn’t suggesting you deal with side issues that you have not shown interest in.
Safe travels jerry.
A little off-topic: in my (modest) experience, fish dishes in Belgium are excellent, but stay away from their potato puree and rice.
No Dutch translation?

Best wishes for no technical difficulties during the talk (or the flight). I wish I could be there to see it.
+1
Have a great trip, Jerry!
Is there a nice person at UofC who’ll keep an eye on the ducks for us?
Have a great trip. And drink the Belgian beer! 🙂
