  1. This I guess is how you atone for covering up for Harvey Weinstein. Surprisingly simple. Maybe Kevin Spacey should have been the star of that homophobic attack on Graham.

    1. “Homophobic”? There was nothing anti-gay about that portrayal. Sure, it had a subtext about Graham’s maybe being a little “light in the loafers” (as they used to whisper about closeted gay men back when Lindsey was a lad), but those rumors have dogged Graham for decades, and he brought it on himself with his “I’m a single white male” non-sequitur during his judiciary committee rant.

        1. It’s not about being gay; it’s about being in the closet.

Linsey Graham’s sexuality is Lindsey Graham’s business, as far as I’m concerned. If he is gay, and he wants to stay in the closet, that’s his business, too (unless he pursues anti-gay policies to cover it up).

But if he is a closeted gay man in this day and age, that’s sad. Gotta be awful spending your life pretending to be something you’re not, especially as to something as fundamental as one’s sexuality.

          1. Sure would be liberating (for themselves and others) if some GOP congresscritter would finally come out before getting caught macking on congressional pages or trying to give an undercover cop a hummer in a public restroom.

          2. “It’s not about being gay; it’s about being in the closet.”

And being a fucking hypocrite. To put it mildly.

  2. Maybe this will be the lead to a movie deal. More seriously, I hope this additional week can produce something that will remove some of the doubt from the tribal thinking we have now. Personally I could never hire Kavanaugh for any position but now, it seems all the prior issues are washed away while we look at this possible sexual assault from long ago. What has happened with this person since then is much more important to my denial. That he lied about this event when he was 17 should not surprise many.

    1. What made it so good was that Damon nailed Kavanaugh’s mannerisms, including his quite annoying sniffing.

        1. Indeed! And the water drinking was hilarious too (especially the can of water, doing the college chug ritual). But seriously, have you ever seen someone drink so much damn water? It was a spectacular farce, and this skit nailed the absurdity of it.

          1. I actually started to worry for Daeman that he’d really have to pee right after the skit.

          2. NOT only did Mr Damon nail it all, but
he is THE perfect person for this role:

… … He has four daughters.
            … … He co – founded and funds water.org.

            hehhehheh.
            Blue

          3. I have. There were only articles on the Waxman story. Damon denied that he had tried to sink Waxmans’ story. Waxman agreed with this and stated that she had never stated that Damon tried to sink her story.

  3. Satire & ridicule will go a long way toward undermining the palatability of BK as a nominee. His performance on Thursday was petulant, a bit unhinged, and very embarrassing. He clearly never matured past 1982.

Had to go to Canada to see it and an enjoyable visit it was.

  5. That impressions of Lindsey Graham by Kate McKinnon may have spared the nation an Attorney General Lindsey Graham or a Secretary of State Lindsey Graham.

The Donald loses all respect for men who are portrayed by women (see Sean Spicer after Melissa McCarthy’s impression, or Jeff Sessions after McKinnon’s).

    1. Not exactly relevant to your comment, Ken, but I thought McCarthy’s Graham was the weak link in an otherwise brilliant piece of satire. Then again, I consider Graham the closest, albeit distant, thing to a Republican Senator with any integrity since John McCain, so I may have a blind spot there. I just didn’t find McCarthy’s bit either funny or accurate. Ipse dixit.

      1. That was McKinnon, Gary. McCarthy did Spicy. 🙂 Her Graham was certainly over-the-top.

I’m on the other side of the political spectrum from Graham, but I was proud of the way he stood tall and took a “never Trump” stance during the Republican primaries. (Hell, at the end of primary season, he even backed Ted Cruz, whom he hates, in a last-ditch effort to stave off a Trump nomination.)

But I’ve been sorely disappointed over the course of last year by how Graham has become Trump’s golfing buddy and lackey. And it’s gotten worse lately. The most benign explanation I can come up with is that he’s bucking for a top spot in the administration to close out his career — AG, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense. I think his good buddy John McCain would be disappointed in his recent conduct, too.

        1. “That was McKinnon, Gary. McCarthy did Spicy. 🙂”

As Queen Victoria was overheard commenting to Gladstone concerning the Irish Question, “It’s hard to tell one Mick from another!” 🙂

  6. I had been of the opinion that this was a “he said, she said” and insufficient to keep Kavanaugh off the SCOTUS. But after his unstable, self-righteous and angry performance, I don’t feel he has the comportment for a supreme court justice. Move on to the next candidate.
