The new Jesus and Mo strip is called “spin”. It’s not one of the better strips, I think, but the theological “bullshit” decried by Jesus does mirror the apologetics of defenders of Islam like Reza Aslan and Karen Armstrong, as well as the spin put on issues like women’s subjugation by organizations like CAIR.

I fully agree with the criticisms of Karen Armstrong by Bill Maher and P.Z. Myers, but she has written a few things worth reading, while I can find nothing worth reading by Reza Aslan, nada, nichts, neant.
Lots of rationalists I know liked her “History of God” and I think “The Great Transformation” is worth a look.
KA IMO has a lot of confused thinking, but RA is just thoroughly disingenuous through and through.
Reminds me of this:
Ha ha. Very good.
It reminds me of the fact that companies bring in expensive consultants who tell them exactly what the workers at the coal face have been saying for some time. It would be easier just to have better communication channels.
I ran in to that all the time when I was consulting. I used to tell the employees, let me tell your boss what he won’t hear from you.
Don’t usually comment on these –
But yes, I have to say I agree – not one of the better ones.
^^^^ how’d I do on my British understatement practice?
Can’t say I agree — I think it’s spot on, and really like it. Made me grin, and want to think of more possibilities.
I may be reading way too much into this cartoon but I think it may be a very oblique criticism of Sy Hersh. The ‘fertilizers’ may refer to his recent Die Welt piece which alleged that the deaths in the Khan Sheikhoun chemical weapons attack were caused by the targeting of fertilizers.
He has been roundly criticized for being plain wrong: the ‘questions and answers’ trope may reflect Hersh’s style – to leave hanging in mid-air questions to which the answer is ‘No’.
I liked it! I think the idea of bullshit being “the fertilizer which helps us to reap the harvest of truth” was rather clever. There might even be an aspect of truth to it if spun just the right way in reference to the right bullshit.
Maybe not one of the better strips, but still a pretty good one. If I had made it I’d be quite proud.
