In this video, embedded in a tw**t, Jane Goodall and her team release a rehabilitated chimp into the wild. But before it leaves, it does something ineffably sweet and sad. You’ll tear up if you’re not made of stone.

    1. IMO, in the grand scheme of life on earth, humans and chimps are not cousins. We’re siblings.

The well-known trope is that chimps are mankinds closest living genetic relative. But it is also true that humans are chimps closest living genetic relative.

I am quite confident that Dr. Goodall has it pretty well worked out. I’ve been following her work for more than 50 years, and she has certainly overwhelmed her many critics.
      And yes, I teared up.

  2. It never ceases to astonish me, how similar we two species are emotionally. I do worry about using them for dangerous lab experiments. Perhaps they need representation in our governments.
