Reader Michael sent me two of the BBC videos hosted by the incomparable Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan). The first, 30 minutes long, is her Christmas “Moments of Wonder” episode, while the second, six minutes long, is on the Apocalypse of 2016. I’m putting them up now because the BBC will assuredly have them taken down quickly. Watch while you can! (The first is available at the BBC site, but can’t be viewed outside the UK.) I haven’t yet seen the first one.
And here’s Philomena’s “Moments of wonder” on The Apocalypse, part of Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe. Philomena’s bit starts at 1:33, and the Science Man happens to be Brian Cox.
So
Whoops, that was supposed to be soob.
Strange to see an unsmiley Brian Cox!
I suspect he was unable to hold that grim visage for more than a fraction of a second after the
‘..sucked off through a hole..”.
So that’s where the clip ended.
Through nefarious means I watched it live on BBC yesterday. Love her delivery. The “History Lady” (Kate Williams) one of my favorite Brit historians.
Yeah, Ms. Cunk’s interview with Brian Cox was all doom-and-gloom about the end of the universe, but at least they finished on a high note, wondering “what it feels like to get sucked off through a hole.”
She slays.
I wonder how many takes Brian Cox needed to keep a straight face to that question?
Gotta love a woman who knows her way around a double entendre.
And how many takes for the food expert when told that bread sauce looks “just like jizz”. His face was a picture!
“If air is really there, how come we can’t grab it?”
I love this woman.
Charlie Brooker originally pictured a posh Philomena Cunk ; imagine that!

O my ! Ms Cunk, in both of these and particularly within her history one, has totally outdone even herself !
These are simply smashing: from Mary’s “ghost sperm” to “must’ve been hell pushing out Jesus with a big yellow circle on his head” to History Lady’s affirmative answer re “Could there then‘ve really been 15 Three Wise Men?” to her entire explanation of the uses for tinsel to Santa’s barometer re “children’s goodness” being based utterly upon the kiddos’ “parental income” to “For Christmas dinner, what kind of gravies go well with peacock?” to the EastEnders’ and Die Hard’s “renditions” of the December holidays and her “Very New Year” – toast !
So, so fine and funny !

I agree. That 30 minute one was brilliant. One had to pay particular attention to every word she said. The second one was not as good, except “sucked off through a hole”.
Special magic @ 18:37 – Philomena accurately assesses Sir Roger Moore’s acting capabilities
I liked the (Lancastrian) Diane Morgans dig at Yorkshire. ‘Living in a cave was better than living in Yorkshire. And still is.’
The Christmas special was brilliant.
Christmas 2016 is one long laugh. Especially liked when the lady was talking about a fragrance and Cunk says, Manure. The smells of Xmas.
That Christmas episode is brilliant!
Gotta love Philomena.
Merry Christmas,…and a very new year.
There is quite a long interview with Philomena at:

It starts at about two and a half hours in.
