After a week’s search for a house in southern Poland, which was successful, Leon rested yesterday.

Here’s the old wooden house that Leon and his staff bought. It will be disassembled, moved north, and reassembled near Wroclawek. It is Leon (and his staff’s) “forever home.”

Wonder what the roofing material is. Never seen anything quite like it. All that lap siding – that’s a slow process.

Roofing looks like conventional standing-seam terne-metal. Now only available in the US in copper since the plant that made the stuff in Follansbee WV was bought by Revere Copper, to considerable sadness since RC’s stated intent to continue production of terne-coated stainless was not upheld.
A lot of houses in New Zealand use (used to use?) ship-lap siding like that in the photo. It actually goes on quite fast since, like roof shingles, it’s only nailed near the upper edge, and the cross-section is such that once the bottom board is on, the ones above it line up just by fit (unlike roof shingles).
The roof doesn’t look to me like standing seam (which in my experience usually runs as a single piece from ridge down to roof edge), more like just overlapping flat sheets, but it’s hard to be sure from the photo.
I remember Old Rivers. But how many remember him with Bogey and Bacall in To Have and Have Not?
