It’s Monday again: July 25, 2016. Over in Sussex today, they’re celebrating the Ebernoe Horn Fair. On this day in 1797, Admiral Horatio Nelson lost a battle for Tenerife—and his right arm. In 1946, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis first appeared together as a comedy team—in Atlantic City. On July 25, 1965, Bob Dylan famously “went electric” at the Newport Folk Festival, and was roundly booed by the crowd. And on this day in 1978, Louise Brown was born, the world’s first “test tube baby” (zygote produced by in vitro fertilization).
Those born on this day include Thomas Eakins (1844), Walter Brennan (1894; who remembers his great hit “Old Rivers“?), Rosalind Franklin (1920 ♥), and Iman (1955). Notables who died on this day include Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1834), and golfer Ben Hogan (1997). Meanwhile in Dobrzyn, Cyrus suspects the real reason for Hili’s interest in natural history
Hili: Animals with feathers are flying.Cyrus: And animals with fur are licking their chops.
Hili: Zwierzęta, które mają pióra fruwają.
Cyrus: A zwierzęta, które mają futra oblizują się
After a week’s search for a house in southern Poland, which was successful, Leon rested yesterday.

Thanks for the house photo!
What a splendid house! A palace for Leon.
A business by southeastern Iowa Amish men of near Kalona is one of razing barns, labeling their pieces / parts, then re – raising them elsewhere such as of thus: http://www.goo.gl/7HhQgz
Kiddo Zac 11 years ago purchased a barn from other, but different, religious colonists near the Amanas for $10.00, thus: http://www.taprootnatureexperience.org/app/TaprootFarm/TheHouse/tabid/103/Default.aspx
Then hired the men to move it about 25 miles and reassemble it. This out in the countryside is it, his home, now: http://www.flickr.com/photos/16034226@N08/28342067041

If the person you are referring to is the Somali-born model who is David Bowie’s widow, her name is Iman, full name Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid.
Now there’s a Freudian slip. Fixed, thanks!
Wonder what the roofing material is. Never seen anything quite like it. All that lap siding – that’s a slow process.
Walter Brennen – he was the real McCoy.
Roofing looks like conventional standing-seam terne-metal. Now only available in the US in copper since the plant that made the stuff in Follansbee WV was bought by Revere Copper, to considerable sadness since RC’s stated intent to continue production of terne-coated stainless was not upheld.
A lot of houses in New Zealand use (used to use?) ship-lap siding like that in the photo. It actually goes on quite fast since, like roof shingles, it’s only nailed near the upper edge, and the cross-section is such that once the bottom board is on, the ones above it line up just by fit (unlike roof shingles).
The roof doesn’t look to me like standing seam (which in my experience usually runs as a single piece from ridge down to roof edge), more like just overlapping flat sheets, but it’s hard to be sure from the photo.
I remember Old Rivers. But how many remember him with Bogey and Bacall in To Have and Have Not?
Lovely house.
