At this stage of the evolution of society it is the case that men predominate and that therefore there is an inbuilt male bias and misogyny
One of the main reasons why women reject religion, besides a belief in rationality and evidence, is that it is man made and inherently misogynist and for social control. We have a greater imperative to reject religion and its pernicious influences but women around the world are also less well off in terms of power and wealth than men to have the luxury of rejecting the religious society in which they live.
It is also true that Atheist/Secularist organisation are more male dominated than Humanist groups and that it is the men from those groups who become the ‘pin-ups’ and spokesmen, especially because of a sexist media. Perhaps, men are more inclined to formally join such groups as women have more formal and informal networks and don’t feel the need to join such groups.
