For those who care about these things, I have to issue a correction: I misidentified the bird in the “spot-the-bird-among-the-leaves” photo I posted the other day. Reader Bruce Lyon sent in the true position and some notes:
In the event that anybody is interested, here is a lightened version of your recent spot the bird post showing that the blob in the center was a leaf and that the bird was to the left. Even without photoshop I was suspicious based on shape but Photoshop brought out the green in the central leaves.

I stand corrected, and ashamed. . .
Ah ha! I was right!
Me too, although I wasn’t sufficiently inspired to actually put it in writing. :-{
Many of us, I believe, will feel great relief to learn that our first instincts were not wrong. I began wondering if there was any advantage for a leaf to look like a bird at rest …
Thank you for the correction. It is much appreciated!
These things are easier by far in three dimensions… the ‘spot the nightjar’ in 2-d is not natural. Noanimal or bird ever has to work out things hiding in 2-d!
Just demonstrates that memory is fallible.
I initially got it right but unhesitatingly accepted the statement that the blob in the centre was the bird.
It’s amazing how much detail was hiding in those black blobs in the picture.

I thought there was something odd about your directions but then, I don’t take direction well. Has something to do with age…
I can sleep at last!
Yes, now I can sleep too knowing that PCC(e) is finally wrong about something.
Welcome back… can’t wait for more food pics.
Also, surely you can set your Lumix to take higher quality snaps so we don’t have to resort to photoshop and you don’t have to resort to apologies.
Oh noes! I lost the Eye!
😉
Me too… I learned that when in doubt, switch computers… I saw the green leaves on a better screen!
Now that is some investigative reporting! All without click bait about some outrageous Trump thing, or pix of side boobs.
I’ve never seen side boobs. All the birds … err, sorry, women I’ve been acquainted with have had boobs in front in the normal position. 😉

I felt bad (well maybe just a tiny bit) for being such a pedant but then I do play ‘spot the bird’ for a living since I study birds professionally. At least for my studies, getting it right actually matters.
Perhaps you are the person to ask how much a bird in the bush is actually worth.
