I am determined to never miss a Caturday Felid, though it’s a bit tough from India. Just remember my dedication and tenacity should I ever miss one.
Is your cat being bullied by other neighborhood cats? Do you want to protect it, even if it makes your moggie look like a scorpion? Well, despair no more: as boingboing reports,
Carrying on the ancient, honorable tradition of armoring your cat, Print That Thing designed a suit of 3D printable cat armor and uploaded it to Thinigverse for anyone to download and print.
Andrew Sink took him up on the challenge, printing a suit of cat armor using gold-toned ABS filament, joining the segments with jewelry hoops for smooth motion.
Somehow I don’t think the cat likes it:
And the video:
Here are the STL files (whatever those are) to help you print your own armor. The helmet is yet to come.

I’m not a big fan of Twi**er (too much heat, too little light), but The Daily Buzz has six pages of what it considers the funniest cat tw**ts of all time. I’ll show just a few:
[Testing Cat-Human Translator]
Scientist: Cat, what is your name?
Cat: I AM KANG THE DESTROYER
Owner: It's not working. His name is Socks.— Dan O'Brien (@OtherDanOBrien) November 21, 2014
Sometimes I wonder if I spoil the cat, seeing him with his iPad, in his yurt. pic.twitter.com/45ScY3Rloe

From diply, you can get an idea of how your cat sees the world. The top photo is how you see it; the bottom is your cat. There are more at the site. Note that there are four pages of photos; I’ve shown just a couple, and here’s the intro:
Have you ever thought about seeing the world through your cat’s eyes? Judging by the cat people I know, you probably have. So since you’ve been wondering just how your feline friend sees the world, photographer Nickolay Lamm is here to show you what you see compared to what Fluffy sees.
Through consultations with veterinarians and ophthalmologists, Lamm has a pretty good idea of what cat vision looks like. For starters, cats have a broader visual field than us, and have a visual acuity between 20/100 to 20/200. So what a normal human can see clearly at 100-200 feet, a cat could only see from 20 feet. And as expected, cats see colors differently than we do, so they’re bound to see everything differently than we do.
Take a look and see just how differently cats view the world:

Love the cat armor!
I think the cat is okay with the armour but I wonder if it will just get rolled and scrapped off on the cat’s daily adventures.
When my cousins was a child, she used to put her bikinis on her cat and the cat would take off and come back without the bikini. She lost a lot of bikinis that way.
I thought you would have picked up on the “Kang the Destroyer” etc tw**t! Dr Who rip-off. 🙂
Craig’s baby.
Ha ha. I missed it. My favourite was when the Doctor talked to the horse and said the horse was named Susan and wanted everyone to respect his life choices.
Ha ha! Yeah, that was a good one too. 🙂
A d*g looks at a human and thinks, “He feeds me, he pets me, he takes me for walks and gives me a warm place to sleep. He must be g*d.”
A cat looks at a human and thinks, “He feeds me, he pets me, he cleans my litterbox and gives me a warm place to sleep. I must be g*d.”
Aaaah! = the citation for this edified thinking & astute observation can be attributed to Mr Christopher Hitchens and found in his Portable Atheist ! its Introduction, p xvi !

Thank you for that information. I have no idea where I first heard or read that, but it was without provenance and I do like to have sources for quotes that I use.
Hmmm, I thought it was much older than that…
I notice the tweet doesn’t say if Tom the ginger is litter box trained.
That might be the real reason why she can’t keep him.
One thing you don’t want is a staff partner who believes in litter training a cat by example.

I’m regretting following up on the cat armour.
Honourary Cat armour.
Scale-mail for your feline. this actually looks just about feasible for the furry one. £92 plus shipping. I don’t think he’s made more than the prototype.
This guy … seems slightly obsessed. How much of this is PhotoShop / Blender, I’m not so sure. Mouse armour?
Someone else going down the scale-mail route (there is a reason that “segmentata” style armour and chain/ scale mail pre-dated plate armour by over a millennium), but this time for the cat-food.
Some people definitely have too much time on their paws.
LOL- Aidan, might you not consider a new career in this line? Lots of money to be made🐸
That ‘scale mail’ armour looks gorgeous! I can see some Goth chick (oops! retrospective trigger warning! probably inappropriate language) buying one and using it for an armlet.

It is rather attractive. I suspect (though I’m not going back to the maker’s sales site) that s/he has fabricated a stamp for turning sheet Al into “scales,” and sourced pre-anodised sheet. Or, more likely, strip. That’d be the economic way to do it.
3-D printed armour for cats is a great idea!
Amazon sells spiked harnesses for d*gs which a lot of people in my neighborhood are getting to protect their d*gs from coyotes. The coyotes are out of control around here, eating people’s d*gs AND cats on a daily basis. They even attack when the humans are out walking with them, and they jump over high fences to snatch pets out of backyards.
That’s sad and scary. And I understand most F & W advice is usually along the, “don’t feed the coyotes, don’t leave garbage out, don’t walk your dogs at night, don’t walk little dogs anywhere…” lines. I.e., you must adapt to the coyotes, not vice versa. (Actually, they’ve adapted very nicely to us.)
Where is your neighborhood?
Ah, what is it like to be a cat?
According to Nagel, inexpressible. And yet … we try. That’s what it’s like to be a human.
Battle Cat? 🙂

Isn’t it typical that mammals, outside of primates, do not see red?
BTW…loved the tweets? LOL
Love the human/cat sight illustrations.
