Because of the exciting theramin post this morning, we’ll have a truncated version of Readers’ Wildlife Photos. How about five lovely birdies from photographer Colin Franks? (To see more of his work, go to his Facebook page, his personal photography site, and his Instagram site.)
Wood Duck (Aix sponsa):
Black-bellied Plover (Pluvialis squatarola):
American Robin (Turdus migratorius):
Song Sparrow (Melospiza melodia):
Yellow-rumped Warbler (Setophaga coronate):

There you go…a robin eating fruit. One cannot live on a Diet of Worms alone. There is principle at the stake.

Black-bellied Plover and Wood Duck both are fabulous birds…… great shots…
Yeah but…I don’t see a black belly on the plover. Why is it called that?
It has a black belly during breeding season. 🙂 It breeds in the high arctic, but migrates through most of the country excepting the mountain west.
Judging by the thin striping on this one’s belly, I’d guess it is a juvenile.
Beautiful work Colin. I especially like the robin and the warbler.
Nice butter butt. 🙂
Beeeutiful photos. Thank you.
Simply exquisite work. What an eye and talent you have, Colin!
Colin Franks’ photography is always a treat. Thanks.
Gorgeous as always, Colin!
