We have about forty cats so far—not anywhere close to the nearly 80 black cats we had for Halloween, so we need to do better. Send in your moggies! Heard a story once from a world-class birder that house finches were a West Coast species that made it to the East Coast by nesting in Interstate Highway underpasses across the Midwest, taking them east ~50mi/yr or so. But I came up empty trying to find an account of that.
Anyone else ever hear that? Ornithological urban legend?
