Monday: Hili Dialogue

Good morning everyone, it’s Monday so it is back to the grindstone for most of us, alas. May the Force be with you.

Our furry princess is doing well, and still has a clear grasp of her priorities as well as being a prime example of the Endpoint of the Three Phases of Civilization*.

A: Hili, I need your advice.
Hili: Let’s talk about it over lunch.

Ja: Potrzebuję twojej rady.
Hili: Podyskutujemy o tym przy lunchu.

And a lagniappe from Leon, the other famousest of Polish cats on the Internet, so seems to be of a similar persuasion to Hili.

Leon: I came here for mice, not to sniff hay.

  1. “Three Phases of Civilization*”
    This has a rough equivalent in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Maslow used the terms:
    “physiological”, “safety”, “belongingness” and “love”, “esteem”, “self-actualization”, and “self-transcendence”. I think Hili’s personality seems to involve most of these in some way. For lunch to be the endpoint though, I think it would need to involve a can of sardines.

  4. Canada Day is on Wednesday. Why we can’t just move the day closer to the weekend or let people take more time off around there is beyond me. I think Americans handle holidays more sensibly.

  5. Our national day (Waitangi Day) is 6 February. Legislation has just been passed so that if it falls on a weekend, we still get a public holiday on Monday. Same with ANZAC day (25 April), which is our equivalent of Veterans’ Day.
