I am still very tired from my Canada trip, but will, of course, do my best to keep up. I have a radio interview this morning; more information later. Meanwhile in Dobrzyn, Monika, a young protegee of Andrzej who just got her degree, is visiting, and, as she’s a superb vegetarian cook, has taken over kitchen duties. Here she has an exchange with Hili over noms:
Monika: Did you drink your milk?
Hili: Yes, and now I can drink yours.
In Polish:
Monika: Wypiłaś już swoje mleko?
Hili: Tak, a teraz mogę wypić twoje.

Welcome back.
It’s a good cherry year here in Pittsburgh, and altho not fully ripe it’s time to pick from my two fairly large trees lest the birds get them all. How’s the situation in Dobrzyn?
Looks very good for now. It is still about 5-7 weeks to the harvest and if we get some rain soon it should be one of the better harvests we ever had.
It has been a dry spring in south-east England but we are supposed to have thunderstorms today…
We’ve had tons of thunderstorms and rain in southwestern Ontario. All the water barrels and extra bins are overflowing.
I bet this post made Jerry drool! 😉
And I notice that my firstname is popular in Poland too.
Thanks. I’m surprised there’s that much difference in our timing.
Already scheduling my day so as to make myself available for Brian Lehrer.

Do get plenty of rest to recuperate, PCC. I hope you’ll be in fine form for your exciting roadtrip!
What does Andrzej teach?
He doesn’t teach at all. He was a journalist, now retired. After we returned to Poland 16 years ago Andrzej offered his services to the local school (something comparable to Junior High in U.S.) He used to run a circle of interested pupils which was formally a journalistic circle (they published a school paper) but they discussed everything possible. Unfortunatley it had to stop a few years ago because of his health. Some of those wonderful kids, who are now wonderful young adults, are still coming to us.
You two have made a difference in many lives. 🙂
Thanks for the reply. It sounds as though he taught many students many things, despite not formally being employed as a teacher.
