Remember, she’s on Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe tomorrow at 9 pm, and I expect at least three readers from the UK to watch it and report back. Meanwhile, here’s a taste from one of Brooker’s tw**ts, courtesy of the ever-watchful Matthew Cobb:
Philomena on Parliament

If nothing else, voting gives you the right to bitch about the results….

According to George Carlin, not voting is what gives you that right.
One of the limitations of the ‘first past the post’ electoral system used in UK general elections is that if you are resident in a ‘safe’ constituency (i.e. one where one party or the other has a large, unassailable majority) your vote has much less impact than if you live in a ‘marginal’ constituency. This election is quite exciting, therefore, in that there is a very strong likelihood that no party will command an overall majority of seats in Parliament at the end of it the larger parties will therefore need to look to other parties for support in forming a government. In this case the overall numbers of votes cast for each party will play a part in the horse-trading and, whoever you voted for and wherever you live, your vote will have a potential impact in this.
Reminds me of the two fellas, maybe should say Blokes, getting ready to go into battle and the one says to the other….I’m right behind you till your belly caves in.
There’s the terse political reporting I’ve been looking for!!
It’s Wednesday already?!?!?!!!!!

Oh sorry–it’s tomorrow.
I’ve been working nights the last couple of nights so I’m completely confused already anyway. You’ll have to ask someone else 🙂
Mr Harrison has a wonderful new invention called a POCKET CHRONOMETER ; you may wish to acquire one.

It is Wednesday in NZ and quite a few other places – almost 9am here.
You antipodean time travellers!

As a speaker of American english I’m ignorant of the meaning of “wipe” in the context of British media. But I’m certain of the meaning in the context of American media and it’s not nice.
