It just means coverage basically. Wipe, because they’re all over it.
As in wiping everything up.
It comes from Charlie Brooker’s other programmes such as Newswipe, Screenwipe etc which philomena is part of.
It is a UK election special so they just stuck ‘wipe’ on the end of it.
…so when Charlie Brooker gets implicated in some Washington political scandal, we can look forward to Wipegate?

but it won’t be available in the US, at least most everything else is blocked for us. Of course, there are ways of getting around that. and if you are patient, most things do end up on youtube, until the bbc goes after them.
It seems with “Hotspot Shield” it’s possible to view BBC IPlayer. Free version has ads 🙁
It redirects internet traffic so BBC can’t see your not from GB 🙂

Meanwhile, in more depressing UK election news, a group of Labour* candidates have just given a talk in front of a large Muslim audience that had enforced gender segregation.
Not one of them even mentioned it.
I can’t believe that in 2015, enforced gender segregation in the UK was deemed acceptable by a group of prospective MPs. These are people that in a few days will have the power to make and vote on the laws of the UK.
* Of the two main UK parties, Labour is supposed to be the more left-wing, liberal, and progressive party. Unfortunately, like much of the left-wing, they’ve allowed multiculturalism to degenerate into cultural relativism. They now largely tolerate, ignore, or even encourage regressive cultures and practices as long as they’re done by an ethnic minority or religious group.
I forgot the mention that the leader of the Labour party recently said that he would make Islamophobia an aggravated crime.
We already have a large number of laws that protect people and property from harm, as well as specific laws for racial or religious discrimination. So, you have to wonder, why do we need a new Islam-specific law?
I can imagine how it will be (ab)used, and probably so can you.
