  1. That she’s a Star Trek fan is a good thing. Star Trek presented a highly moral and optimistic view of the future of humanity. You and most of your readers probably share its core values, even if you weren’t fans of the shows.

    1. Well said. We should all extend Jerry the same courtesy and forgive him for NOT being a Star Trek fan. 😉

  2. I notice a picture in there somewhere of our astronaut getting ready to take pictures out the window and had a sizable telephoto lens. I guess you get a closer look at the dots.

    1. Vic Mignogna (great Italian last name) is a graduate of Liberty “University.” I confess to enjoying his interpretation of the Kirk role.

Some fine folk give William Shatner grief for his exuberant acting. To my mind he is to acting as Mario Lanza was to singing.

I’m reminded of a quote from a William Blake poem (courtesy of a Kris Kristofferson LP liner note):

      “Excess of sorrow laughs,
      Excess of joy weeps.”

Some years ago my brother and I were engrossed in an episode of Star Trek. Our mother happened by, noticing our engrossment, and commented, “Do you really believe that?”

The words/phrase “clueless,” and “willfully ignorant” come to mind.

      1. Cristoforetti. Another great Italian name.

Born in 1977? Just the other day. More power to her for “following her bliss,” to quote Joseph Campbell.

On Google there’s a photo of her in a Star Trek uniform.

Am at the moment over and over listening to Nat King Cole’s “Stardust.” (Hoagy Carmichael and Mitchell Parrish)

I’m glad to become aware of her. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently went to the ISS, as duly reported by the U.S. media. Not that I religiously keep up with the goings-on at the ISS, and all the best to Scott Kelly, but I don’t presume for a moment that the U.S. media will bloody well keep me much informed of the existence and presence and activities of any non-U.S. astronaut.

      2. I give Mignogna a lot of credit. He not only successfully portrays the Kirk character, he also mimics Shatner in every grimace and gesture. Remarkable.
