Well, these boots from Tres Outlaws of El Paso are mainly calf, but have wingtips and heel counters made from cane toad (Rhinella marina, formerly Bufo marinus). Warts and all!

Very nice! Excellent use for cane toads! 🙂
I agree on both counts! I would definitely wear those.
That’s what I thought. Everything has a purpose and finally it has been discovered what the Good Use is that God had in mind when he designed cane toads. 🙂
You are almost dressed for the 155 anniversary of Pony Express. See you in St. Joe.
Is it not unusual for a binomial to have both parts changed?
The second word in the binomial, the “specific epithet” of the species name, was changed to match the change in gender of the first word of the species name, the “generic name” (or the name of the genus).
Jerry, I’ve been noticing marine toads around my apartment if you’d like me to send you enough toads to have a pair of all-toad-hide boots made. This is not a joke.
Agreement in gender between species epithet (if identifiably a Latin adjective) and genus is automatic, and doesn’t even count as a change.
Would not have expected toad skin to be tough enough for boot use, but then again I wouldn’t have expected salmon skin to be useful for leather period. But I remember some while back reading that leather can indeed be made from salmon skins, and a quick search turned this up.
I didn’t turn up any cowboy boots from salmon leather (haz PCC?), but there are these, which look pretty cool.
That’s most interesting–I never would have thought
Warts and all — just like so many of us here….

Very nice. Soy de El Paso and they do make some of the best boots on the planet there.
Très outré!
All these beautiful boots on the desk…I never thought of academia as a sinecure. (Sarcasm of course.)
Jerry should make a calendar: “Boots on a Desk”. A different pair of boots for each month. 🙂
Nice boots, professor!
Here a fan of yours from the island of Sardinia, Italy.
Keep up the good work.
