Monday: Hili dialogue

March 2, 2015 • 4:07 am

Thank Ceiling Cat for small mercies: the temperatures this week are predicted to be above freezing for the first time in ages. Here are the predicted high and low temperatures for Chicago over the next seven days (in °F).

Screen shot 2015-03-02 at 4.00.48 AM45°F high tomorrow: I can hardly believe it. Meanwhile in Dobrzyn, the beasts find their warmth with each other, and hey, that’s my sofa that Cyrus is on!

Cyrus: Why do we insist on sleeping on this small sofa?
Hili: Because it has higher social prestige.

In Polish:
Cyrus: Dlaczego my się upieramy, żeby spać na tej małej sofie?
Hili: Bo ma wyższy prestiż społeczny.

  1. They’re saying “wintry mix” for us on Tuesday, 90 miles north of PCC’s Chi-town digs. I think we need to wait until later in the week for anything that might be tremed “pleasurable”.

    1. Or later in the year, we get a smidge above freezing tomorrow, followed by a couple of 19f highs. In fairness it does improve after that, perhaps creeping up to “bloody cold”. I’m not sure whether to be proud that I survived this record breaking Chicago winter, or upset that I lived through it.

    2. Yeah Tuesday’s going to be rough. I’m not looking forward to the snow dump.

  2. Love these pics of Hili and Cyrus napping together. When Cyrus first joined the family, and Hili retreated to the cabinet tops, I thought how could they bring a d*g into the house. Now I love seeing those two beautiful creatures walking and hanging out together.

  3. A d*g on your sofa! What are you going to do about it?

    p.s. +1 for Rob’s comment.

  4. Believe you have smooth sailing after the mid week cold. Spring must be on the way because the clocks change next weekend and we loose one hour. A really dumb idea this clock changing.

    1. Golfers’ New Year! When congress changed the DST period a few years ago, I think more of the year is in shifted time than not. Weird.

  5. We have a situation here. Our d*g Maggie (looks similar to Cyrus) becomes restless when my wife and I are on sofa-1. She has sofa-2 to herself, but after a while always seems to end up parked next to us, squeezed in at the end or sometimes wedged between us. I used to talk to her about it but it did no good. Now I’m resigned. 😎

  6. Curious. I always thought the social prestige attached to the cat, not the couch.

P.S. I really am serious that I think the 10K post should be an Hili Dialogue. b&
