After a week away from home, last night I found myself being reminded of my proper place in the cosmos: twenty lbs of cat sitting on my chest, blocking my view of the television, head-butting my hands if they stopped scritching one head or the other.
The gods demand worship and sacrifice. The dog knows his place as well: stayed at the foot of the bed until the kittehs were bored with me.
