Why Evolution is True is a blog written by Jerry Coyne, centered on evolution and biology but also dealing with diverse topics like politics, culture, and cats.
Hovercat is not purrfect, just divinely puntastic fur purrsons who paws to reflect on hiss glory. Of course I am speaking metafurkitty – it’s really less a fact and meow of a feline.
I can’t stop myself, even though my cat puns are hairball … !
Oh, and 🐱.
Acck! We’re going to have to have a MooT/Ant duel.
It’s interesting to see how compact the bits and pieces (not literally its “bits and pieces” – I can’t see those) are when a cat is in that position.
Yeah I like how you can see how the cat’so back feet appear when sitting.
I was just marveling how kitties paws are so cute. Especially pink pads.
Yes. They look just so neat.
Right? Their hind portions sort of make complete contact with the floor. Very stable Which I guess is not surprising, all that flesh and fur has to go someplace, just interesting to note I’ve never seen it like that before.
I like the way their tails curl around. And you can see how the lowest parts of the back legs are what their whole foot would be, if they weren’t digitigrade.
LOL digitigrade. Awesome word! Sounds like a 90’s tech company.
I expect you’ll be less thrilled to learn that we’re plantigrade.
😀
I couldn’t bear it if we were tardigrade. 🙂
Ha ha ha ha ha!
(Did you know waterbears are also called moss piglets?)
Not until now. 🙂
I think ‘moss piglets’ suits them rather better.
Either one is a cute name for a cute little critter! 🙂
That’s excellent! They look so differently from underneath!
Sometimes I wonder if cats recognize it when people laugh about them. I’ve always found the cognitive abilities of animals the most interesting field of inquiry. Koko the gorilla and Alex the parrot spring to mind.
While you’re under there, can you rotate the tires, please?
Cool shot!
I think most people would feel a bit uneasy on transparent surfaces…
One winter the ice on the Rideau River froze clear and at least 6 inches thick. I went out after work to clear some snow to make it better for skating. It soon got dark and I found myself walking on nothing visible, just blackness. I was surprised at the uncomfortable visceral feeling it produced, as if I couldn’t be sure the ice was still there.
That would be pretty neat to experience…from someplace safe! Which I guess would be impossible.
I get nervous just watching vids of people out on the transparent floors of skyscraper viewing platforms; or the one that extends over the Grand Canyon.
I thought it was when PIGS fly???
It’s a ceiling cat meowiracle!
Meowllelujah!
😀

The CN Tower has a glass floor; I walked on it and faked I wasn’t unnerved.
Argh, exactly what I mean! I don’t care if it can “withstand the weight of 35 moose.” (And think of those poor test moose!)
Love this view of a kitteh. My husband always called this the cat “meatloaf” position. 🙂
It’s a UFO! (unidentified feline overhead)
Good one!
