It is Hump Day, and I dare not look out the window to see how much new snow fell last night. It’s a trudge to work, for the streets still aren’t plowed (nor are most of the sidewalks), and so it’s actually a physical effort to do my usual 11-minute walk, which now takes twice as long as I climb over drifts and try to keep myself upright. First World problem! Meanwhile in Dobrzyn, I have no idea what is going on:
Hili: I think you will have to bark.
Cyrus: Why?
Hili: Mere words won’t move them.
In Polish:
Hili: Chyba musisz szczeknąć.
Cyrus: Dlaczego?
Hili: Bo samym słowem ich się nie ruszy.
I spot two black wall cats.
It’s always fun to read the Polish. It exercises my Russian and my memories of History of the Slavic Languages in grad school.
Clearly Cyrus is outdoors and wants to be inside. Barking might work, but nothing* gets the attention of the humans quite like gouging the surface of the door with one’s toenails.
*Says the human homeowner with a back door gouged at various heights by d*g toenails.
Having a blizzard of sorts here in southwest Iowa, again. All schools shut down. I think Hili has a much better view over there. Emma the cat, here in the window, is watching all the birds outside at the feeders.
Hili probably wants her noms (or to go outside), and Cyrus’s whining isn’t working. So she’s inciting Cyrus to BARK! Arf! 🙂
Cyrus could always try shoving his nose in somebody’s privates. Dogs seem to favor that particular method of getting somebody’s attention.
…which would be yet another reason why I share my home with a cat….
