Friday: Hili dialogue

November 21, 2014 • 3:49 am

It’s cold in Chicago, but fortunately the great blizzards inundating the U.S. have missed us: we have no snow. Meanwhile, in Dobrzyn, Hili recounts her day’s noms to Cyrus:

Cyrus: What did you eat today?
Hili: Two mice, one sparrow and some treats bought from a profit-hungry corporation.

In Polish:
Cyrus: Co dzisiaj jadłaś?
Hili: Dwie myszki, jednego wróbelka i trochę smakołyków nabytych od żądnych zysku korporacji.

  1. We have a lot of snow here but the temperature is expected to rise with it getting into double digits (celsius) next week, so I expect the snow will all melt again.

    1. Wait — you mean temperature scales go to single digits? Or is this just one of those Canadian myths to consternate foreigners — your equivalent of our Jackalope?

      1. Yeah, you’re just cocky because the weather is nice now in Arizona. It’s why so many Canadians own condos & timeshares there!

        1. Ah, yes — the snowbirds. Aves canadensis ningues, I believe. Easily identified by their garish plumage and bizarre driving habits, with the distinctive call of, “eh”….
