I’m afraid that Hili’s recent philosophical leaning was a flash in the pan (or bowl):
Hili: I wonder…
A: What about?
Hili: Are there 3D printers that can print cat food yet?
In Polish:
Hili: Zastanawiam się…
Ja: Nad czym?
Hili: Czy są już drukarki 3D drukujące pokarm dla kotów?

I disagree. This is very sophisticated philosophy.
For did the Prophet not write:
“The History of every major Galactic Civilization tends to pass through three distinct and recognizable phases, those of Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication, otherwise known as the How, Why, and Where phases. For instance, the first phase is characterized by the question ‘How can we eat?’ the second by the question ‘Why do we eat?’ and the third by the question ‘Where shall we have lunch?”
(Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe)
Haha.
One of my favorites…though my tummy always asks, ‘When do we get to eat?’
Never underestimate Hili’s mind…lol
My dentist printed my crown out of porcelain. They scanned by tooth then printed it. I suspect it was cut out of a slab or porcelain rather than printed, however.
Actually it may well have been printed rather than cut. I had a conversation some months back with an engineering professor at Harvard who said that ceramics are excellent materials for 3D printing because you can lay them down as layers of powder that you then sinter with a laser. (The prof was extremely impressed that I used the word “sinter” in a sentence.)
There’s various kinds of 3d printed human food (for example, http://www.instructables.com/id/3d-printed-Cookies/). So there are people who could do 3d printed cat food fairly easily — it’s not any kind of new technical challenge.
