This kind of science humor usually falls flat, but this one’s pretty good. A Neil DeGrasse Tyson rapper also appears:
Newton wins.

It’s pretty good, because it’s Weird Al. Actually some of his earlier efforts have fallen flat with me (probably because I am one of the more snooty connoisseurs of novelty music) — but Weird Al has definitely gotten better with age. (and has some serious chops, to boot)
I thought that was Weird Al!
Newton wins. Nye and Tyson don’t stand a chance against him here. Bill Nye even uses a double negative as he tries to explain that he has more friends than Newton. The equation Newton rapped about writing Newton couldn’t have wrote because it uses work done by Leibniz and Euler. Neil deGrasse Tyson’s character asked Newton to pick on a brain his own size. He’s right, Newton should have been battling Einstein. “Astrophysics black guy” did make me laugh, which I wasn’t happy being made to laugh.
Of course Bill Nye needed to call in reinforcements, another scientist I know from popular audience science only, to even have a chance of tying with the Newton. Not a fair fight in my mind.
That got old in a hurry…
As far as science rappers go the work of MC Hawking was my favorite.

Gravit … levity always wins.
Yeah Newton wins because Weird Al did his part. I agree he has gotten better with age. I love his White & Nerdy. I also think this picture, which parodies the same song as White & Nerdy is pretty funny.
It always surprises me when I see Weird Al. I just remember him from the 80s and early 90s, and it surprises me when I see him still doing his thing. It surprises me more that it is often really good even after all this time. I like weird al.
I’m always surprised to see him without a moustache, even though he hasn’t had one for years.
I had not seen this one, but Einstein vs Hawking is one of my favorites:
I like Bob Ross (remember him?) vs Pablo Picasso (“Rubik’s cubist”).
On the subject of science rap battles, Albert Einstein vs. Stephen Hawking is my all-time favorite. 🙂
Hahahahaha!
Dr. Tyson killed it. Hands down 🙂
My favorite music-science video is “Hotel Mauna Kea”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPdTlHK1h_0
The music & singing are very good and it gives you a peek into the tribulations of being a research astronomer.
And it isn’t rap.
