In a nutshell, his argument seems to be: you don’t need a law degree to make laws (and we should distrust intellectuals); those bad intellectuals are going to allow your loved ones to be raped and killed because they want to restrict gun ownership.

Well summarised Diana. One of the biggest advantages of being an Australian, is that we don’t have a mindset about guns. Our bad guys have them and they tend to shoot each other from time to time, however not the general nutters, who just love to create mayhem.

I guess he’s going for shocking here, but he just comes off as a jackass. Basically he says that if a known rapist and murderer showed up at his house with the intent to harm his children, he’d use any means necessary to protect them. Yeah Bob, you and everyone else on the planet. Hardly qualifies you for public office.
He doesn’t actually say he will act to defend his children, he explicitly says he will shoot to maim which is likely to land him in jail in most jurisdictions.
