I am told that the Polish words for “appease” and “pet” have the same root, and so the humor in the original Polish is a bit lost in translation:
A: You see, Hili, the world cannot be appeased.
Hili: But you can pet me anytime.
In Polish:
Ja: Widzisz, Hili, nie da się świata ugłaskać.
Hili: Ale mnie zawsze można pogłaskać.

How about a half save?
A: You see, Hili, the world cannot be soothed.
Hili: But I can be smoothed by you anytime.
Much better! Thanks!
Or:
A: You see, Hili, the world cannot be mollified.
H: But you can mollycoddle me anytime.
At a different time of day:
A: You see, Hili, the world cannot be fulfilled nor placated.
H: But you can fill my plate anytime.
