  1. Hili is lucky living in a climate like that. This time of year, Baihu only starts the night on my chest…fifteen minutes later, a half an hour at the most, it’s too warm and he’s moved to my side.

    I thought the worst of the heat was over, but this week the highs are all closer to 110°F than to 100°F, and the overnight lows are above 80°F.

    1. Though they lack language, cats have become very skilled at managing humans to get what they want —- basically food, shelter and a little human affection.

      Seems to me that it’s an article written by somebody who doesn’t know what language is about how something that he describes as meeting the textbook definition of language isn’t really language.

      Sure, it might not be sophisticated or have much structure, but a vocabulary of sounds that clearly and successfully communicates an individual’s inner thoughts can only be understood as language.
